This time of year...

There are a few things I like about October and early November...

  1. That crisp feeling in the air.

  2. The fact that I can drag out the old duster coat and wear it without sweating my arse off.

  3. The smell of woodsmoke in the air at night.

  4. The energies in the air as Samhain draws closer.

  5. Putting more covers on the bed. I like to burrow, so I keep the bedroom temp low at night, around 60. I add more comforters and burrow. Of course, Colleen's in there too, and Julius likes to sleep on the bed with us when it's cold, so he adds warmth.

  6. The turning of the leaves... especially in such scenic areas as Rt 9 between Worcester and Amherst, or heading up to the NH border... some trees look like they're made of fire. Such a beautiful effect.

What I hate about this time of year:

  1. Heating bills start to go up.

  2. Uninstalling the air conditioners.

  3. Dark comes earlier than Colleen and I like it to.

But, I'd have to say that fall is lovely...
