There are a few things I like about October and early November...
What I hate about this time of year:
But, I'd have to say that fall is lovely...
- That crisp feeling in the air.
- The fact that I can drag out the old duster coat and wear it without sweating my arse off.
- The smell of woodsmoke in the air at night.
- The energies in the air as Samhain draws closer.
- Putting more covers on the bed. I like to burrow, so I keep the bedroom temp low at night, around 60. I add more comforters and burrow. Of course, Colleen's in there too, and Julius likes to sleep on the bed with us when it's cold, so he adds warmth.
- The turning of the leaves... especially in such scenic areas as Rt 9 between Worcester and Amherst, or heading up to the NH border... some trees look like they're made of fire. Such a beautiful effect.
What I hate about this time of year:
- Heating bills start to go up.
- Uninstalling the air conditioners.
- Dark comes earlier than Colleen and I like it to.
But, I'd have to say that fall is lovely...
