Okay guys, second round of lyrics... guess the band/artist, then the song...
Cast your minds back to 1972, spot the tune...
1. The poet and the painter casting shadows on the water, as the sun plays on the infantry returning from the sea. The doer and the thinker, no allowance for the other, as the failing light illuminates the mercenary's creed.
2. As I was going over the Cork and Kerry mountains, I saw Captain Farrell and the money he was countin'. I first produced my pistol, and then produced my rapier, I said, "Stand and deliver, or the Devil he may take yah."
3. One sound, one single sound. One kiss, one single kiss. The face outside the window pane, however did it come to this?
4. Every day in the week, I'm in a different city. If I stay too long, people try to hold me down. They talk about me like a dog, talk about the clothes I wear. They don't realize they're the ones who's square. And that is why you can't hold me down. I don't wanna be tied down. I gotta move on. Hey!
5. I got a gal that lives 'cross town. She's the one that really gets down when she boogies.
6. These mist-covered mountains are a home now for me. Though my home is the lowland, and always will be.
7. You gotta keep one eye, looking over your shoulder. And you know it's gonna get harder and harder as you get older. Yeah. And in the end you'll pack up, fly down south, hide your head in the sand. Just another sad old man, all alone and dying of cancer.
8. He hears the silence howling, catches angels as he falls. And the all-time winner has got him by the balls. He picks up Gideon's Bible, open at page one. I think that God, he stole the handle, and the train kept going, no way to slow down.
9. They found James Ambrose dead in his cell. A gaping gash in his arm had drained him down to Hell. No one knew for sure if Ambrose was his name. They called him Yankee Sullivan in early days of fame.
10. If my words did glow, with the gold of sunshine, and my tunes were played on the harp unstrung, would you hear my voice come through the music? Would you hold it near, as it were your own?
