And now that the long weekend is over and done with, it’s time to play a little catch-up.

Saturday was spent watching MTV’s feed of the Live 8 concerts.
It was, for the most part, absolutely painful to watch. Most of the airtime was taken up with VJs performing interviews or just nattering on with each other, commercials, and maybe a flashback to a song that had been performed earlier that day. I couldn’t believe how badly they loused it up, and on two stations! They could have each carried a different feed… but on this, I digress, saving it for a Friday FU.
As the concert got into the late-night hours, London time, things got better, at least music-wise. The Who was onstage for a really great version of ”Won’t Get Fooled Again,” but that was all that MTV showed.
The one saving grace was when Pink Floyd hit the stage. Granted, the two idiot VJs talked over the beginning of ”Breathe,” but then they just let the show go on, at least halfway into the fourth verse of ”Comfortably Numb,” when they felt that they had to start chattering again, about how this was an historic moment in music history. Yeah, and you’re talking over it, you assholes… excuse me, arseholes.
All in all, it was worth the wait. Unfortunately, the performance was like 6 hours into the DVR recording… lots of FF to do before I can put it on tape.

Sunday was errands day. Nothing truly exciting.

Monday, we went to my parents’ place for dinner. Marcus was an absolute delight there. Smiles streamed from his face like tidal waves. Mom put a comforter from a crib set on the floor for him, and he just went to town, flailing about and having a blast. Gods, what a sweet kid.

The only hitch was on Saturday – as I turned the oven knob, there was a pop and flash behind the knob. Colleen’s afraid to use the stove at all, and according to two different sources, she’s certainly in the right to be thinking that way. Looks like we may have to get an appliance guy out to have a look.

Right, and now another weekend has passed. I don't feel 100%, as Marcus has kept me up later than normal.
Managed to catch the redone broadcasts of the Lie8 shows, and I will say that MTV has somewhat redeemed themselves for the awful performances. I got to see The Who and Pink Floyd doing their complete performances without interruption this time. Much better. Townsend and Daltrey still have it.

I managed to pick up the DMG II during the past week. I haven't had a chance to give it a full read as yet, but it looks good. More tips on running a good campaign, more magic items, traps, and best of all, a fully-described town. Not just any town, mind you, but one from my favorite modules way back from 1st edition, Saltmarsh, aged a couple of decades. Love it.

Other than feeling like I'm in a walking coma, edvident by the fact that I'm not typing correctly about 1/3 of the time, I'm doing okay.

C's mom arrives sometime in the late night Tuesday. She'll be here all day Wednesday, then everyone except for me heads to VA on Thursday.
