From last Friday...
1. What foods did you eat growing up that you later found out were regional items? (specific brands or recipes that you thought everyone could buy or make)
I can't really recall anything of this sort.
2. Ham or turkey at Christmas and Easter? Or was there some other main course not typical for your area or religion?
Currently, since we're down with Colleen's family over the actual Christmas holiday, we end up with both, at least at one of the houses.
When we're doing it at my parents' place, I think we've done both as well.
Easter? More likely ham.
3. What was your favorite meal served at your elementary school?
You think I can remember back that far? I typically brown-bagged it back then. I didn't really do a school lunch program until, what... sixth grade and onwards?
4. What family recipes have been handed down to you, and have you tweaked any of them a little bit to make them more yours?
Chicken casserole, enchilada casserole, beef stew... got those from Mom, and I always tweak them somehow, but the basics are still there.
5. Are there foods/recipes you wouldn't eat as a child that you now regularly enjoy?
No idea. I'm a fussy eater, as my family can verify, so I think a lot of the childhood hated foods carried on. However, I'm more likely to eat broccoli these days then back then.
