It appears that Al Sharpton and Jess Jackson have won.

Don "The I-Man" Imus has been fired by both MSNBC and CBS Radio.
All this over one little thing he said. Tiny detonator, massive explosion.
All Howard Stern ever got were fines and suspensions. Imus was originally suspended. Now he's out of a job.

And suddenly, once again, there is the dearth of anything good on the radio in the morning.
First, it was Bob and Tom getting booted off of the Fox here in Worcester. That was a few years ago. They were replaced by a local show that was about as funny as a night cramp.
Next, David Lee Roth was shown the door within the past year. I actually liked the show. He was a good host, he had personality, and most important, it showed that he had a brain in his head.
Now, Imus. *sigh*

I need a better stereo in my car, something into which I can plug my iPod. I've got tons of Penn Jillette's show on podcasts that I can listen to. (Now there's another radio show that's gone, but it was never carried up here, and it was a mutual agreement to end it.)

I know this is a trivial gripe concerning the whole Imus thing, but hey... I've got to have something to listen to in the morning... guess it'll be NPR now...

Something better might be an iTrip, or something similar, which transmits on an unused frequency, thus meaning that you don't need to upgrade your stero.

Well, even to do that, I need something that has louder and clearer volume. My nifty one got stolen out of my car last fall, and was replaced for free with a very used Bose system that's clear when on low volumes, but gets distorted when at a decent volume. Using the tape deck, the volume is even fainter.

mm. no. what he said was absolutely horrific, actually.
and he deserved to get tossed out on his bigoted arse.

Never listened to Imus, but I don't think he should've been fired as well. I think suspension was good, but I didn't think 2 weeks was enough. And, Meredith Viera did bring up a good point to Al Sharpton - what about the rappers inciting violence against women and such? Why is there a double standard? I agree his comments were uncalled for, but I think firing him was too much. But, what do I know anyway? I listen to Ramiro and Pebbles and Matty in the Morning...lol.
