Okay, another weekend update here...
So Friday night wasn't anything to really write home about. It started snowing sometime around lunchtime, I think. I made it home without a hitch, as it wasn't really doing anything to cause trouble.
By Saturday morning, though, things were different. That's when the bigger of the two storms came through. I think we ended up with 9-10" of snow in total.
But that's not where the fun was.
C and I spent the day cleaning the flat. I spent my time in the front room, getting crap neatened up in front of my bookshelves so that the door can be opened all the way. I still have things to move in the room before anything can be moved in there.
Later in the afternoon, I baked a pie shell and made a pudding pie. I planned on two layers, bottom as French Vanilla, top as Devil's Food. However, the pie crust sort of shrunk as it baked, so I just ended up doing the vanilla pie. Oh well.
When that was set, I started to get everything together for a meatloaf, but the burgermeat didn't look so hot. I decided to brave the elements. C decided to come with.
Now's when the fun began.
Getting out of the freshly-cleared (not totally, there was still a thick layer of packed snow) driveway was an adventure, as the car couldn't really grab anything -- the wheels kept spinning. I let C get behind the wheel as I gathered sand for traction. We eventually got out of there and we were slowly off to the store. The streets weren't in that great of shape, not like they were earlier in the day. In fact, we saw a group of plows (what would the collective noun for a bunch of plows be) sitting under the 290 overpass doing nothing. Our tax dollars at work, folks.
Anywho, we made it to the store, got the burgermeat and other items needed for the meatloaf, and found pints of Ben and Jerry's on sale for $1.88, so we stocked up on new flavors.
We got home all right, but the new adventure lay in pulling into the driveway, and turning it around so we could park normally (nose toward the street) in our usual spot. (Way down at the bottom of a slightly sloping driveway.) This in itself must've taken fifteen minutes. My gloves were soaked and covered in dirt (for traction).
I made the meatloaf -- very tasty, pretty much everything from the Good Eats meatloaf minus the red peppers but using a smoky chipotle pepper sauce rather than regular red pepper sauce) and we ended up eating at like 2030-2100. Late dinner, but filling. May not have been worth the trip, but still...
Sunday went off without a hitch. Got out and back into the drive with bo troubles.
This morning, though, C needed a push and some more dirt. I got out fine.
I'll be stopping at Target tonight, not just for a few sundries and some more jelly beans, but I'll get her a big bag of litter to keep in the car for just such an emergency. I doubt they'll have any ice melting stuff. Maybe at Lowes...
Nothing more to report.
Carry on.
