Okay, tried something new up there...
Last night C and I had our second childbirth class. It seemed to go by fairly quickly as the teacher went over the stages of labor, and showed us a video of a woman in labor and delivery. While it was sort of graphic at the end (seeing the kid come out), it didn't phase me one bit. Hell, I nearly decided to eat the second half of my sandwich during the video. That shows either that nothing will faze me with this, or that I'm just going to keep playing the blissful ignorant sod who'll just be there. My money's on the former.
Dinner that night was different. Instead of the pizza, we hit the sandwich counter at the food court in the hospital. C got this wrap with fresh mozarella, basil, onion, tomato, olive oil... I tasted some of the cheese with the oil and basil. It was tasty. My sandwich was honey maple turkey, mayo, provolone, pickles and carrots on a sub roll. That was good too.
We got home, and C still wasn't feeling well. It seems like this is a combination of a cold and possible allergies, and she can't take anything for either. She decided to try sleeping on the couch, thinking that the back of the couch would give her better back support. I tucked her in and went back to the bed, which seemed a little bigger without her. We both slept okay, but she's still not feeling any better.
I have Aikido tonight. The class' instructor's sensei (lead sensei for his dojo) is the guest instructor tonight. I do not want to miss this one for any reason. He's supposed to teach the final class in the series as well, so that one will be attended by yours truly, come hell or high water.
C had her third ultrasound yesterday. It's definitely a boy, she's got proof. She also managed to get a couple of profile and a head-on shot of his face. He's about six pounds right now, give or take a pound. For some reason, the tech thinks that the due date is now 10 April. That's a whole month earlier than expected. C will be calling her doctor about that. We're hoping that shift is just a major oversight.
The realization of becoming a Dad is still something that's in the "Holy Shit!" category.
Well, either way the due date goes, I still have quite a bit of work to do with the place. By the end of the weekend, I hope to have the bedroom in decent shape. Then it's back into the front room.
C has Friday off, so she'll be working on things, I'm sure.
Dammit, I can't stop eating these chow mein noodles... you know, the crunchy ones?
I find myself noshing on various things while at work... chow mein noodles, Pringles, Oreos... whatever I bring from home as a snack. I don't think it's a bad thing. Have to maintain weight, you know. I know I could and should eat better foods, but it's what's handy, portable, and not messy.
I also find myself in this sort of routine: Breakfast with some sort of juice (typically orange or apple, sometimes grape); brew up a mug of tea (strong and sweet), usually Orange-Tangerine Zinger, Lemon Zinger, or Tasty Tangerine; lunch will start the sodas - sometimes a bottle will last me all afternoon, sometimes it takes more. *shrug* Oh well, at least I'm trying to stay hydrated, though the sodas don't do much for that, yeah?
Yesterday's rant fuelled a good number of responses, a few of which pointed out some facts that I either didn't have or got wrong. Thanks for pointing them out to me, guys.
That's all for now.
Nothing more to report.
Carry on.
Okay... when you're driving 30-40 minutes each way between home and work, and you don't have a radio in the car, you tend to let the mind wander a little, right? Right.
Well, I've got more ideas on writing... Worcester's very own Wizard, sort of in the vein of The Dresden Files. He'll be a little different from good old Harry Dresden, but still with a few similarities, and a few twists. Not sure when I'll start writing it, but the idea's there...
