What a morning...

Now for me, in a typical morning, to get onto 290 East from my apartment usually takes about a minute, barring the traffic light right in front of my flat, of course. With the construction that they're doing on the stretch of Lincoln Street between the Hanneman campus of UMass/Memorial and the I290 onramp, they've been detouring traffic onto Burncoat Street, where they'd have to cut over on a side street to get to 290. Okay, with traffic and an additional light (or two), that makes the trip run me maybe five minutes tops.
Well not this morning.
They decided to block off the onramp to I290 East at that intersection. Traffic was diverted all the way down Lincoln Street to the next available onramp at Main Street Shrewsbury, with one hell of a backup. So now we're adding a total of somewhere between 8-10 traffic lights and four to five times the traffic trying to get onto 290, with the backups because you have to make a left turn at an intersection with no traffic light.
Total time to get onto the highway: between 15 and 20 minutes. My commute to work just got that much longer.
With a very brief stop at a store up here for breakfast nosh, I made it into work about two minutes late, even with driving at 80mph at various points on 290 and 495.
*grumble*
I may have fodder for an entry for [livejournal.com profile] friday_fu if this keeps up, or if they just keep enlarging the area of construction.

Marcus dozed out nicely before 10pm last night, after a nice bit of playtime on the floor. He was a bit of a crankybutt this morning before he left for Nana's, but that's to be expected, I guess.

Wow, did the Sox get their heads handed to them yesterday... Shock and Awe are not the words I would use to describe how I feel about it. I caught a little of the game on the radio during my trip home, but then decided to just listen to some Concrete Blonde instead. I checked the game on TV when I got home, and stopped watching it before things could get worse. Let's hope they do better tonight.

More later as the Powers That Be permit...

Head is feeling loopy... slight discomfort bordering on pain just between the left temple and left eyebrow.
Feeling slightly woozy as well.
Need sleep tonight.
