Starting off with: the weekend update.
Friday night was the usual: Colleen went to the gym for a while after I got home, so I watched Marcus. I listened to the last episode of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Tertiary Phase, which is merely a radio adaptation of Life, the Universe and Everything, done in the style of the orginal radio shows, with much of the original cast. Very entertaining.
At night, we watched Stargate SG1, Atlantis, and Monk, and DVR'd Numbers.
Saturday: This was the errands day, before the rains came. The three of us went to That's Entertainment, WalMart, and Price Chopper. That late afternoon and early evening, we were at St Mary for a teacher's Mass and pasta dinner, as part of the end of Catholic Schools Week. Marcus became a bit fussy during the mass, so I took him downstairs into the school hall where they were setting up for the dinner, and walked around with him on my shoulders for about twenty minutes or so. He flirted with one of the women there, and became very calm and content. I brought him back upstairs into the church, where he proceeded to fall asleep in Colleen's arms. He slept through a good portion of the dinner as well, and when he woke up, he was a huge hit with people. Some of Colleen's students even gave him one of the balloons from the dinner -- a red mylar heart balloon, which is currently hovering over his changing table.
We got home, helped him get off to sleep, and settled in with Family Guy: Stewie Griffin - the Untold Story. Gods, it's funny as hell, especially when you choose the uncensored soundtrack to it.
Sunday: Ended up feeling a cold coming on. Throat was a bit sore, so I went out to Target to get cold remedies and some breakfast for Colleen from Dunkin Donuts. Made a huge batch of snack mix -- sort of based on the homemade Chex Mix, but no nuts -- added the wide crunchy Chinese noodles and rice noodles, and substituted Cheerios for the wheat Chex. Had to make nearly double the butter and seasoning mixture, and I still can't get that stuff to distribute evenly throughout the munchies. Oh well.
Made a big meatloaf for dinner, following Alton Brown's recipe (except for the bell pepper... just put in a little extra carrot instead). Turned out great, though a touch spicy.
- The Super Bowl itself was rather... unexciting. We watched it mostly for the commercials anyway. The best ones were (to my memory):
- Budweiser Football Streaker
- The Magic Fridge
- Ameriquest - In the Hospital (and the intern using the defib paddles to zap a fly right above an unconscious patient.. "Well... that killed him." Just as the patient's family is walking in...)
- Budweiser - Young Horse pulling the carriage. That one was very classy.
Anyone have a list of who did what for commercials? I'm drawing a blank on some of them...
And so we come to Monday. The head cold has hit. Nose is stuffed up. Downed some Airborne and Comtrex.
Brought leftover meatloaf, potatoes and cream corn for lunch.
Going to listen to the first ep of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Quandary Phase on the way home (adaptation of So Long and Thanks for All The Fish.)
Colleen's off to the gym tonight, so dinner will be quick -- leftovers from Friday night (beans & meat -- baked beans with ground beef and seasonings/spices... however, I'm doing up some corn tortillas and we'll eat 'em like tacos with cheese and sour cream tonight).
That's all for now.
