Okay, where did I leave off then?
Ah yes, last Monday was the last time I updated...
So here we go...
During this past week, my Mom-in-law was up for a visit. I'm not falling into the stereotypically Mother-in-Law rut, where MiL is a pain in the arse or anything like that, because it just isn't true. I enoy her company quite a bit. Plus, she loves coming to see her grandsonnyboy, as she puts it. And he loves her. You can tell when he falls asleep in her lap and just stays there, bot budging an inch.
C and her Mum had a good time together, just hanging out with the kiddo. They did go on a couple of trips out with him, which was good. There have been no mishaps or anything.
I cooked only a couple times while she was up. The first night, I made my special pasta sauce (half ground beef, half loose sausage). The only thing that really changes is the amount of seasoning. This time, I used some of the regular Adobo seasoning, and it turned out pretty good, if not a touch salty. MiL loves my pasta sauce, which is good because it's an easy meal for me to make and have lots of leftovers for lunch. The other night I did two packages of chicken tenders -- one with a honey teriyaki marinade, the other was just olive oil and bitter orange Adobo. Both versions went into the broiler, and were served with rice and an Asian salad mix.
That being said, I did have free time with which to put towards other things. I managed to sort through a few more boxes from the front room, and I got around to starting to convert psionic abilities into GURPS 4e (from 3e), but not too far into that. More conversion will come later.
On Saturday, we all went out to Blackstone Valley Shoppes. We had lunch at the new Red Robin. Tasty burgers. Colleen says she's going to devise a checklist to keep track of what she's tried.
I would suggest going there. You get bottomless steak fries with any burger order. My only complaint was that every TV in the place kept showing the Weather Channel. Yeah, okay, they're predicting a small amount of snow in our area. Big deal. Can we move on, perhaps put the Olympics on?
After we left Red Robin (well, I left ahead of the others, since they didn't need anything from Barnes & Noble, and I just wanted to check for a CD/Audiobook), we went up to Target. MiL and Marcus stayed in the car, since Marcus fell asleep. And he remained asleep as C and I shopped in Target and PetSmart.
We went home, relaxed the rest of the afternoon, and I heated up the remainder of the pasta sauce, dumping in a whole pound of angel hair and an extra medium-sized can of tomato sauce. MiL and C gave Marcus a bath, and afterwards I read him one of his favorite stories -- Dinosaur Roar! -- with the voices, of course.
On Sunday morning, MiL left for home. C was sad for the rest of the day. I went and did a quick shop at Shaw's. Marcus had two naps on me during the day, and another bath with C. And again, he had two stories afterwards, including Dinosaur Roar! (I swear, I'm going to have that book memorized before long...)
And so we come to Monday, and it's back to the grind.
*sigh*

Adobo with pepper
Adobo without pepper
Adobo with lemon pepper
Adobo with bitter orange
Adobo with cumin
Stuff's not bad, and it's cheap as chips. Put some of it on chicken, beef, pork, fish... pop it into the oven, let it roast or broil... tasty.
