I know it's been a while since I've posted last with something of substance, so here goes...
I'm not really going to get into doing major updates or anything, but there are a few topics I'll touch on.
Marcus:
monkeymoo2005 now has his own LJ. He's already recounted his birthday weekend, and his antics in trying to get to sleep last night. He's been a real cutie, showing new tricks (like crawling backwards) and making everyone feel really good.
I just can't believe he's a year old already.
TV:
Is it me, or has The Sopranos been kind of, well... anticlimactic this season? The whole "Kevin Finnerty" dream sequence when he was in a coma was interesting, but since Tony was shot, it seems like the life of the show has been fading. Paulie Walnuts has become more the asshole, only now tempered with his cancer. The Vito storyline is mildly intruiguing, but on the whole, dull. The promos for the upcoming episodes always show something exciting is going to happen -- only to have it fizzle. Take, for example, the incident with the teacup ride at the festival. Here we were, thinking that it was going to be another St Mary's incident, but no. Still, it's one of the better shows to watch.
The other show that we look forward to watching each and every week is, of course, Doctor Who. Chris Eccleston is, dare I say, fantastic as the Doctor. He will be sorely missed once his 1-series run is over and done with, but I believe we'll get the DVDs when they come out in July.
The House:
C and I worked some more on Saturday. We sent
monkeymoo2005 off to Nana and Papa's for the afternoon. I managed to get a total of six half-height bookshelves along the wall in total, one set atop of the other, so it's three vertical columns. Gaming stuff is already packed into them, but I still have to find all my GURPS stuff (I know where a good chunk of it is though), organize the shelf that will have the PC stuff, and neaten up the computer desk.
I also have loose papers to sift through, sort, put into files and label.
PC:
Brigid is still up and running nicely.
Still ripping my CD library into Atrac3Plus format.
Will be working on installing eTools, HeroDesigner and Metacreator for my RPG software. Will also install The Sims (and expansion packs) as I go. (It's not Sims 2, but still fun.)
Tested the DVD playback by watching some of Star Wars Episode 3 on it. Wow!
Mother's Day:
I finally got Colleen the present I had been promising her for years: a keyfinder! Now, we just have to remember where we keep the base unit... It would have been a great show of irony if, after getting this thing, we couldn't find her keys to put the tag on...
Mom-in-law got a necklace from Colleen. My mom got roses, a Mom's Day balloon, and a nice little book of motherly quotes (C picked it out) from us, as well as a brief visit. Marcus cheered her up to no end.
I made a nice hearty dinner last night, considering the drab and dreary weather. Originally it was going to be a chicken pie, but with biscuit on top. However, I binned that idea and just went with a chicken and dumplings idea.
It included:
1 roasted deli chicken, minus the legs and wings
3 cans cream of chicken soup
1 can chicken broth
1 can of corn
1 box of peas and carrots, frozen
seasonings -- salt, regular Adobo, onion powder, parsley (all to taste), touch of paprika
1 package of biscuit mix, prepared. Add paprika on top of dumplings.
Mind you, this makes a lot of food. Do it for when you have company or need leftovers for lunch during the week.
Out here.
