Well, I'm back from the Con, and I can tell you that I had a good time. However, I don't think I had as good a time as I did last year, but each con's different.
Here's the breakdown --
Thursday - Arrive around 500p, get my pre-registration material. Find out that one of the slots I signed up for was filled, and get a Generic Event ticket. No bother, I'd still show up for it in case someone does a no-show. Get my gear into a friend's room for the night, and then go out and get some dinner before my 700p slot. Played Strange Synergy from Steve Jackson Games that night. Interesting and fun game. I'd recommend it. Sack out around midnight while my friends go to the bar for a late night drink.
Friday - Show up for the 800a slot where I was supposed to be playing in a d20 Modern game (but got the generic ticket). GM never showed up. Helped Colleen get settled in when she showed up that morning. Checked in, got our room with an inside balcony. Played in an oddly run D&D game that afternoon. I say that because while all but two players had their characters in either 3e or 3.5e, the GM was running it in more of a 1e or 2e style. Somehow it managed to work. Too many players though, difficult to handle, at least for me. Attended a dinner theatre that night that was amusing, but I don't think it was worth the $30 per person. Still, it was a fun thing to do.
Saturday - I tried to get into a game of HexHex that morning, but couldn't find the table. I don't think the guy even showed up for it, so I binned the slot. However, I did try a new game in the afternoon slot -- Spycraft. Even bought the book. Not too bad, though I had been doing a slow mental and physical fade during the day due to not sleeping so well. Joined up with my friends in their room later that night for some casual drinking.
Sunday - 800a slot for some random Steve Jackson Games. Played Chez Dork and Chez Grunt. Like them both. Checked out, left sometime before noon, got home before 1pm.
All in all, I had a good time. I had hoped to pick up the Stargate SG1 RPG book at a discount, but everyone had sold out of their copies. Oh well, I will either order it through my comic shop or just keep checking eBay.
Darryl, my Saturday afternoon GM, had sworn that he wouldn't pick up the D&D 3.5e books. However, one dealer had the core books for $20 each, so he has them, and is already planning on running a 3.5e campaign. No biggie, since I have two of the three core books myself.
I am still trying to catch up on sleep from the Con. Two of my friends took today off as well for recuperation. However, I did't want to press my luck on that. I'll just have a nap when I get home.
TotalCon is great. I'm already planning to attend next year, hopefully running a few events instead of just playing. Already getting some ideas down.

Re: call me stupid...
It's like $30 to pre-reg for the whole weekend (Thursday through Sunday), and $2.50 for each event. It's a little more if you register at the con itself, and you may find yourself not being able to play in the events that you want to be in, so that's why I pre-register.
As I said, let me know about next year. I'm planning on working on three or four events to run, including a rather nasty version of D&D 3.5e combined with Hackmaster.
