Right, here goes a brief update since my last entry...

Wednesday, 24 November
Just before I was preparing to make some lunch, I got a call from one of the companies with whom I interviewed. Oddly enough, this was a company that I didn't think I did well with the interview. However, they're offering me a job! The job's not in IT, it's customer support, but it's $17/hr, benefits, and a decent commute -- better than VNA, commute-wise. I'm very very seriously considering on snatching this one up. It's with a small company up in Littleton, and they've never laid off any of their employees. A big plus there. So, I'll be employed, full time, permanent, finally!
Afterwards, [livejournal.com profile] silvara77 and I went to Medical Center to get her flu shot, then it was off to Shaw's and Price Chopper to get food for the Welcome Home/Thanksgiving dinner. Strangely enough, the stores were not crowded, so our shopping trips went quickly. We dropped off a lot of food at my parents' house, fed the kitties, then came home to relax.

Thursday, 25 November, Turkey Day
[livejournal.com profile] silvara77 started off her day by going to Thanksgiving Day Mass. Fortunately, her church is right across the street from our flat. I stayed home and watched shows on Area 51 and UFOs. She came back and watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which is her favorite. I kept watching my shows in the bedroom. After a brief cleanup, we went over to my parents' house, where I started cooking. I left [livejournal.com profile] silvara77 in charge of a few things while I left to pick up my parents at the Logan Express Shuttle stop in Framingham, and brought them home. Boy, were they surprised with the meal! A few things didn't go off as planned, but it was all yummy nonetheless. Here's the menu:

  • Turkey cutlets in a chicken broth/white wine sauce (was originally supposed to be a pan gravy, but the thickening agent I was going to use crapped out due to the light butter I used. Never use light butter to make a roux.)

  • Garlic mashed potatoes. (These turned out rather soupy at start, but letting them sit on low heat for a while helped to thicken them up a bit.)

  • Stove Top Stuffing, turkey flavor.

  • Peas and corn in a butter sauce (frozen package)

  • "New England Vegetable" mix (frozen package)

  • Butternut squash, roasted.

  • [livejournal.com profile] silvara77's AppleMallow Yam Yums

  • Sweet Potato Pie for dessert. (Recipe by Alton Brown, slightly modified due to supplies at hand.)

  • Sparkling cider.

It all turned out great, and of course there were leftovers!
Afterwards, we came home late, and just relaxed for a good while. However, I had a difficult time getting to sleep and staying asleep, so I'm groggy this morning.

Our plans for today:
Go see The Incredibles.
Stop at Price Chopper and pick up a few things.
Relax at home for a while.

Nothing more to report.
Carry on.

TAKE THE JOB :) Oh congrats on that, Adam dear. I know that's been an intense worry of yours for a long time. I'm sure that was even greater lately knowing about Baby Johnson.

Glad to know you had a good day :)
