So I never did a weekend update... so here we go...

Friday night's dinner at the 111 Chophouse was terrific. The place is like modern art deco, with an open kitchen and lots of waitstaff running about in butcher's coats. Everything was just delicious, including one of the best caesar salads I've ever had. Colleen had the filet mignon, while I went for the 20oz sirloin (planning a couple of meals in advance, since I figured I'd be taking it home). For sides, we got the garlic mashed potato, potato au gratin (different... I expected sliced potato, not chunks), macaroni cheese, and broccoli with hollandaise. Colleen didn't use the bearnaise sauce that came with her steak, so I used some of it, and man, was it good. For dessert, C had a raspberry creme brulee, while I opted for something lighter: lemon sorbet.
We walked in there with a $150 gift card, a wedding present. All in all, including tip, we walked out of there with a $10 gift card. Well worth it indeed, though it's not someplace we will be frequenting.

Saturday ended up being a bit of a knockaround day. I ran an errand or two in the morning, and the afternoon was spent with Marcus. However, after watching an afternoon edition of the Phantom Gourmet on channel 38 (Boston's UPN station), we decided to check out one of the show's Hidden Jewels, located right here in Worcester -- Wholly Canolli. We ended up getting like $18 worth of canolli, dynamite sticks (very rich, very tasty), and (Tina will like this one) a sfogliatelle. (C made me not put the joke I was thinking of posting upon severe pains worse than death.)

Sunday was shopping day. Nuff said on that.

So that was the weekend. They're getting to be a bit of the same old same old, but hey, I'm a family man now...
