Ahhhhh, I think I have some of the perfect foods for summer snacking...
Sangria punch: Get a bottle of Yago Sangria, a two-liter of your favorite orange soda, an orange, a lime and a lemon... if you get the big bottle of Yago, double the rest. Get a big sealable pitcher, preferably glass. (I use one of those big decanters with a spout at the bottom.) Slice up the fruit and put it in the container. Pour in the Yago. Seal it up, and put it in the fridge for at least a couple of hours. Let the fruit mascerate (sp?) and the juices flavor the Yago. Not too long before you drink it, pour in the soda. Give it a gentle stir. (The soda will foam up a bit due to the sugars in the fruit.) Pour over ice, and enjoy! (Hint: Look for Yago at your local packie store, but not in the regular wine section. Odds are, you'll find it near the Boone Farms stuff.)
Taco dip: 8oz tub of sour cream (any will do), 1 can of Frito-Lay bean dip, 1 packet of mild taco seasoning, shredded cheddar or taco mix cheese. Combine the sour cream, bean dip and seasoning in a bowl. Stir well. (You can probably add some cilantro and/or parsley here too... as well as some of the cheese.) Put in fridge to chill for a couple of hours. Serve with chopped green onion and tomato, if that's what you like. Eat with your favorite tortilla chips.
All that with some assorted sweets (always gotta have some sort of chocolate and fruit-flavored sweets around here) and regular soda and Fruit2O, I should be set this summer...
Well, that and my prescriptions and iron pills... gotta start in on them in earnest so I can be at my best come October...
