So where did I leave off?
Wednesday night: Apparently, we have a new tradition -- going to Shaw's the night before Turkey Day. Another coincidence with the previous year -- we get stuck behind a woman using WIC checks. (If you don't know what they are: WIC stands for Women and Infant Care. They're like food stamps, but can only be spent on formula, milk, juice, cereal... basically the check states what it can be used for.)
Turkey Day: Colleen went to church for a morning mass while I took care of Marcus. When she got home, she made her Apple-Mallo-Yam-Yums (Google the recipe) and we went over to my parents' house.
The turkey supplied by my employer was huge, but was done in less time than expected. To quote the song, we had a Thanksgiving dinner that couldn't be beat, and lots of leftovers were to be had.
In the afternoon, Marcus was dressed in his snowsuit and moose hat, and we plunked him down in the backyard, right in the snow. He loved sitting in the snow, and was having a grand old time.
After we got home and got Marcus to bed for the night, I made myself a turkey and stuffing sandwich.
Friday: Went to get haircuts for us, except for Marcus. On the way to the barber shop, we heard a scraping noise under the car. Looked underneath, and there was a bit of metal hanging off the exhaust. I thought that something from the exhaust system had come undone, rusted through. So we got our haircuts, and drove up to Meineke. On the way there, I was thinking that I didn't hear that throaty rumble that would be heard if the pipe before the muffler wasn't connected or had a hole in it. I checked it again after we got there, and saw that it was just a plate of some sort. So after a bit of welding and an oil change, we had Colleen's Sentra back.
We met at my parents' place again, this time to meet with people who wanted to buy my old Tracker. (Mind you -- power steering was shot, engine needed replacement.) They offered $350 for it. I agreed, and they would be back on Saturday with the money.
Oh, and Marcus had more fun in the snow.
Saturday: Had our pictures taken at a professional photographer's studio in the morning. We also broke my desire to avoid any of the mass markets on that weekend, but since we needed a few things, we went to Target, which, surprisingly, wasn't all that crowded at all.
We went back to my parents' place to meet with the car folks. They brought a mechanic, who noticed a couple of other minor things. All in all, I got $200 for the Tracker. That money's going toward the repairs on my Sentra.
And Marcus had more snow fun.
Sunday: Hit Target early on in the morning for a few things we had forgotten. Spent mid to late afternoon working on clearing space in the front room. However, Project Monkey Room is going slower than we had planned. We'll need another weekend for sure.
Monday: Back to the grind.
