This happened while I was on vacation in Virginia.
I was in the Barnes & Noble in Manassas, having a good browse. Marcus was asleep in his stroller, so I decided to have a seat and leaf through one of the GURPS books they had there.
Three chairs were arranged in a circle, facing outwards. I parked it and was reading.
Apparently my sniffling caught the attention of the young man on my right, who turned to ask, "Is there something wrong with you, or are you crying?"
I turned to him with this look of surprise on my face and said, "I have a bit of a cold."
After a pause he turned back, muttering, "All right," as if he didn't believe me.
My opinion was: What the fuck? So I had a few sniffles whilst perusing a book. Why should he care if I was sobbing or doing the natural reflex action versus a cold?
What business is it of his anyway?
Marcus was making some noise while he was sleeping. I was afraid that this guy was going to comment on that as well.
