Well, as of last night, my faith in American Good Taste has been restored. When it came right down to it, we didn't need another skanky tart winning American Idol. Not this time. It was Taylor "Soul Patrol" Hicks who was victorious last night, a fact that pleased both Colleen and myself to no end. I guess she'll tune in the next time around. Right now, though, she'll have So You Think You Can Dance to tide her over. Dear Gods.
Lunchtime has begun another cycle of ennui for me. It's not the time itself that produces the mundanity, nor the reading material that I bring to the table. It's the food itself. Sometimes I bring leftovers. Sometimes it's a frozen dinner, like today -- beer battered chicken tenders with cheesy potato wedges. Sounded good in theory -- in reality, it just didn't do it for me. It didn't satisfy at all. I don't really have much else in the way of reserves here. I could send out for a sandwich like a few of the folks here do, but they're not very good, and the prices are a little high when you compare them to the subs I can get back home. I've gone on about this before, but there are times when it just hits me and I can't think of what else to do. There's hardly anywhere to go within a short distance here, and I get only a half-hour break for lunch. Meh, I'll just soldier on.
I'm going to actually start planning meals and a drilled-down shopping list from now on. I'll use Sundays for grocery shopping. That way I can use Sunday mornings to figure out which store I'll hit, either Shaw's or Price Chopper.
Not much else to report. I'm on my own at the desk again until Tuesday. Then again, it seems like I'm always the only one on the desk. At least I have a long weekend ahead of me.
