First off, a Happy 4th to all... play safe, eat heartily, and laugh with friends.

Right, on with the show.

Bush = idiot. Now I realise that I'm not revealing anything new here, but I thought that I would just put in a few words about this moron while I've got them in my head.
A few days ago, he said this at a press conference:
"To those who would try to drive us out of Iraq with their attacks - Bring it on. We have the forces necessary to deal with the security issue."
Now, I read about this on a friend's entry ([livejournal.com profile] zonereyrie, aka MegaZone, Zoner), and had this as my reply:
Oh great... now I get to worry even more about a friend of mine who's over there. As if I wasn't concerned enough about his safety and his form of sanity, now we get his Commander in Chief telling -- no, wait, goading -- the so-called "enemy" into making more attempts to kill our loved ones over there.
Duh-bya is not going to win the next presidential election... not if he keeps on with this and letting the economy continue its downward spiral. If he wants to pick a fight, let him don the desert cammies and pick up a '16 and get his arse over there.

Now he's considering sending troops over to Liberia as peacekeepers or something to that effect. My thoughts are:

  • He's sodding nuts.

  • Who the hell is he going to send? He's got our boys already spread all over the world. Our coverage will become thinner than Kate Moss after the Hollywood Diet. I'll bet that he'll redirect troops coming home from the mid-East and send them into Liberia for six more months of being away from home. I know it's what they signed up for when they took the oath to become a soldier, but for everyone's sake, let them come home for a few months first! Gods, we're sticking our nose into more shitholes than a dog with poor depth perception. We don't need to be there.

  • He's still trying to impress Daddy.

Now, enough on Bush.
Wednesday night, we went bowling. Still didn't really get switched on. Good thing it was only a practice session. Each string was only a few pins below my average.
Small tip: Don't go for a workout in the weight room at the Y the morning before a game.

Our gift registry is, for all intents and purposes, done! We're set at Bed Bath and Beyond, for those who are interested. Took us three trips to that place to get it done.

Wedding plans are falling into place. We have a caterer, limo, church, reception hall, and tux rental place for the Virginia site. Up here, we have a church, reception hall, and dinner site. Invitations will be ordered next week. Things are really moving along now.

That's all I can think of right now. More later as things progress.
