The Life of Pink

So now our hero faces a Friday. Damned good thing, too. I've been looking forward to the weekend, just because it's been a bit of a hectic week. To quote a Tull song, "Back to the Family":

Everything I do is wrong
What the hell was I thinking?
Phone keeps ringing all day long
I got no time for thinking
And every day
it's the same old way
They're giving me too much to do

At least, that's the way I see it.

So our hero and his wife had the Child Safety and CPR course last night. C is worried that she'll forget what to do in a crisis situation. I don't blame her, really. Panic always sets in when something goes pear-shaped. I kept telling her that somehow, she'll fall back on this, or at least on the training she gets for older kids. As the teacher said, "Doing something is better than nothing."

Our hero is on his own for dinner tonight. C is going out with a few of the teachers from school for dinner. No worries on this front.
Speaking of dinner, we're headed to my parents' place on Saturday night for the first grill-out of the year. The weather's supposed to be rather decent this weekend. I'm looking forward to it.
I'm also looking forward to driving to the game on Sunday with the window down and the new tape deck playing. Heh.

So our hero completely forgets that there's a staff meeting today, so he didn't bring any lunch. Fortunately, there's a lunch order list started, so he's now safe.

Our hero has now also made an appointment to get his tape deck installed -- Saturday @ 1600, Best Buy in Marlboro. Takes about an hour, he said. That'll give enough time to get that done and then go to the 'rents.

Our hero is also planning to make an appointment to see his GI specialist. Every time he calls, he's on hold for longer than he can spare, so he never makes the connection as yet.

Next Wednesday, there's a barbecue lunch here at work. Our hero has signed up to bring pickles and mayo. Methinks it's time to hit the Good Eats pages for recipes... mwahahahahahaha...
I'm thinking some nice sour pickle slices and a little taste of garlic in the mayo...

More on the weekend during the weekend...

Time for a Rant...
Maybe not so much of a rant, but at least a big Notification That You're Number One in the Eyes of Red Sox Fans Everywhere to Chris House, the shitwit that decided to give Gary Sheffield a whap in the face as he tried to field a ball.
Thanks, Chris. You're certainly maintaining the image that Red Sox fans are decent, well-mannered fans.
You're also endangering the safety of Sox fans for when they visit Yankee Stadium.
Good on you.
Sheffield swung back. Natural reaction there, I don't fault him for that. After all, he didn't start the fracas. Thing is, I don't think he connected, did he? I think Sheffield actually took the higher moral ground here. Sure, he could have sunk to this guy's level and pummelled him into the Pesky Pole, but he didn't.
Some other moron decides to dump his beer on Sheffield during this altercation. Here's another bright star in Red Sox Nation.
Is this how it's going to be whenever the Yankees are in town? Are we going to throw civility to the wind and start to become emulators of A-Rod? I thought Sox fans were better than that. Sure, we beat the Yankees in the biggest comeback in baseball history, but we don't have to do things like this at all. We're better than this. We don't need baseball hooligans -- this isn't a Manchester United soccer game here, folks. This is baseball.
Grow up.
And here's another kicker: all they did was throw the guy out of Fenway. I don't know what they'll do to Mr House as a further form of punishment for what he did. Perhaps taking away some or all of his season tickets, make him donate them to a kid's charity or something like that. If he's going to act childish, then let some real kids have his seat.
At least they'll enjoy it more... and have an excuse for behaving like children.

That's all I have
Nothing more to report
Carry on

Hi, honey! :) While cutting my bagel this morning, I noticed the recipe for the Cajun Mayo that I had cut out awhile ago. Maybe you can add that to your BBQ fixins'. Looks pretty easy...even I could make it ;) (It doesn't involve oranges or angel food cake). heehee

Love ya!
