Pink's Life

So here it is, the day that one can never seem to get the hang of… Thursday.
I know I’ve nattered on about the feeling that Thursdays have, so I won’t go on about it.

On this particular Thursday, Our Hero finds himself alone on the Support Line, as his colleague has decided to take today and tomorrow off, giving himself a nice five-day weekend.
So far, it hasn’t been too bad when it comes to calls. I’ve been able to give decent solutions to them all, and have closed them out.
Currently, I have 40 open cases going. This time last month, I think I was up to around 80, so that’s a pretty good effort. I hope to be down to about 30 by week’s end.
I used to panic when I was approaching 50 or more. Then there was the week of the big broadcasting show, where I was on my own for a week and a half. That boosted my open calls big time.
So I’m feeling okay about the call count. It’s not down to where the management would absolutely love it to be, but they should see this as a really good effort on getting things done.

C and M are heading off to a small party of the faculty of her school later this afternoon. They’re all meeting the new pastor of the church, as the two priests that were stationed there are being transferred or retiring. Hopefully he’ll be as nice as the other ones were. I liked them, and more important, I respected them. While I’m not big on the Catholic Church as a whole, I can respect individual members. Including priests.
What I’m hoping is that after he meets me and finds out that I’m not Catholic, he won’t try to force me to convert, since C is a semi-practicing Cath, and while I told the priest who oversaw our renewal that I was baptized Lutheran, I will explain to him that I am not a practicing Christian, no matter what denomination, and that I have beliefs that would fall under many other faiths – Buddhism, Shinto, Celtic, Wicca, Witta, and the like. Well, maybe I won’t go into all the examples. Wouldn’t want to see a Burning Times Revival in central Massachusetts. I will also tell him that I respect some of the ideas that the Catholic Church tries to follow, but I think the execution has been, well, faulty. Well, maybe I won’t go so deep into it. Perhaps I’ll just say, "No, but thank you for your concern about my beliefs. I like them the way they are."
* shrug *

Right, off the topic of religion, before I go into fervor…

How about them Red Sox?

What are people’s plans for the long holiday weekend?
Me, I’m spending Saturday at home, doing some more work in the front room while having the Live 8 concert on. I will be taking breaks for certain groups – The Cure (watch them with C, as I haven’t really heard much of them, to tell you the truth), The Who, and of course, the reunited Pink Floyd. That will be the capper to the day. After that, I’ll make a batch of enchilada casserole for dinner.
Sunday is errands day – either Target or WalMart, the comic shop, Price Chopper… who knows what else?
Monday – might see if Dad has the day off, and if they’re going to grill some food or whatnot, or even just want to get together. Silly question there, I know, they always love to have us over, especially with the Cub.

Marcus moment here…
I have set as the wallpaper here at work the pic of him in his car seat, with the blue shoes, blue and green striped pants, hands on the belt clasps, and the open-mouthed smile. I can’t quite remember when it was taken, but he looks happy in that picture, like he’s just babbling away about something. It’s one of my favorite pictures of him. If you haven’t seen it, head on over to the gallery. Link is in my info page.

With C and M going away for nearly a week, I’ll have some time to finish up with the front room, getting the PC up and running, and perhaps some free time to do some of the game planning that I haven’t done in a long while.
As for when I or we will be getting back with the groups, that’s still up in the air. I’m leaning toward the end of the year, when M has a bit more of a routine going, and is weaning off the breastfeeding.

Anywho… back to the world of dreams…
