The storm has passed.
The Sun God once again graces us with his presence, after a long, chilly, damp and miserable week, and begins to warm us with thoughts of Spring.

I start to think of the more memorable springs I've had, and my mind always focuses on the Spring Thaw at UMass Amherst. The warmth in the air, that sweet smell of new foliage and whatnot... and seeing everyone else shedding their parkas, scarves and boots for clothing more appropriate to the weather.
Also, to one spring semester in particular -- 1994, when I took the bus to the local Strawberries, purchased The Division Bell on CD and two copies on tape for friends, and walked the two miles back to campus, just listening to the CD on the original release date. Thirteen years ago. Wow.

The week has been a mellow one. Colleen had her gall bladder surgery on Monday. She's been recuperating with the help of Vicodin (the pain reliever recommended by 4 out of 5 grumpy and sarcastic physicians everywhere) and Mom-in-law.

So now it's Saturday, and I'm pulling a 9-5 shift. It's all well and good, since I took Monday off to be Colleen's transport to and from hospital, so I won't have to spend any PTO time. For this pay period, I'm only using 2 hours of PTO, since I had to leave early one day for an appointment with my GI specialist.
This is good that I'm saving 8 hours PTO, since I'm taking like 3 days off in May, a day in June, and a week in July. Hopefully I'll have enough later on in the year for my Christmas escape.
