This has been more than a week in the making, so due to length, I'm placing it behind a cut...

The Life of Pink
Friday 021805
Friday was, well.. a Friday. I left work around 1430 in order to go to my doctor's office in Spencer. Nothing serious. An old cyst on the side of my neck has decided to grow back with a vengeance in the matter of a couple of days. It's tender and sensitive. However, they didn't slice into it as yet, since it wasn't ripe. I was advised to use moist heat compresses on it, as well as take Keflex (an antibiotic) for ten days. Well, there goes any drinking I had been thinking of...
That night, we went to Price Chopper to get their fried haddock dinners. After only eating maybe half the fish each, we came to the conclusion that next time we'll only get one dinner and split it. The fish is good, especially with lots of tartar sauce.
Saturday 021905
Saturday morning, I went back to get my car re-inspected. Turns out the brake light went out again. I was ripshit, and called Bancroft on it. They took me in right away, and got the light replaced, even though they said it was working when it left the shop on Wednesday. I'm going back this weekend to have my car rechecked, and if it's out again, then it's gotta be something in the wiring.
C's mom arrived in the early afternoon, with Christmas presents that we hadn't received. Some of the stuff was for Marcus, which was really cool. The funniest gift was the Chicken Dance Cookie Monster, though. We went up to Bob's Furniture to get the cost of everything we want for the bedroom, and we have a number for the down payment. After that was figured out, we went to the 99 for dinner.
Oh, I also went to Best Buy to price out cassette decks for my car. They had a JVC unit that was slightly cheaper, but I like the Sony one the best. It'll be another $85 on top of the deck's cost for installation, which probably isn't too bad. I also found the antivirus software I had been looking for -- PC-cillin, which has been rated better than Norton and McAfee.
Sunday 022005
Sunday was interesting. After I did a morning run to the markets, we ended up having brunch with paladyn, ibabeu and Amanda at Living Earth. Afterwards, we hit BJ's for a couple of things, and ended up buying four outfits for Marcus, including a couple of Red Sox outfits. WalMart was interesting too, as we bumped into Jesus Steve (friend from UMass days), his wife and their 16-month old daughter, Autumn. After we got home, I threw a chicken in the oven to roast so that I could make my famous chicken casserole, which was a hit. (And it's also lunch for today.)
Monday 022105
Now it's Monday, and a yucky one at that. Driving in wasn't so bad, I was probably five minutes late. My cohort here on the desk called in sick today. Hopefully the phones will be rather quiet. Granted, I'd rather be home, but hey hey, what can I do?
Monday night was just a relaxing time, watching a couple of hours' worth of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and a pasta dinner with my homemade meat sauce.
Tuesday 022205
My cohort on the support desk came in, so it was a pretty normal day all around. I had a meeting after the phones were closed, so I was home later than usual. Dinner was pizza from Papa John's, which was very tasty.
Wednesday 022305
Nothing exciting to report. Dinner was sandwiches from the pizza joint up the road.
Thursday 022405
Nothing exciting going on, apart from the threat of a little snow. Chicken French and rice for dinner, homemade.
Friday 022505
Again, nothing exciting. Went out to dinner at Elsa's Eatery with my parents. While the girls gabbed, Dad and I beamed games back and forth to each other with our Palm Pilots. A woman at a nearby table saw us doing that, and when she left, she asked (kiddingly), "Care to beam me something?" It got a laugh from the whole table. Dad had some good comeback lines he could have said, like, "Not on the first date," and "I don't know where your Palm Pilot's been."
Saturday 022606
C's mum lit out around 1000 at the latest, and got home about 1800. That length of time for her sort of made up for the fact that it only took her just over seven hours to get up here. After she left, we went to Bob's and put a down payment on our mattress and bedroom set. That wasn't bad. That evening, we had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] sfogliatella and [livejournal.com profile] silent_iniquity at Eddy's Pub, where a good time was had by all. Word to the wise: the shepherd's pie is very filling - it's primarily a thick mashed potato with a layer of the meat and corn in between, and not quite enough gravy. However, it was very good. After the dinner, C and I went to the new Shaw's near us so I could get her the key lime pie that she craved.
Sunday 022705
Today was a faily normal Sunday for us for right now: Mass for C, grocery shopping for me, then an afternoon of cleaning the place up. We need to get certain rooms organized so the furniture can come in...

Gaming:
This year was quite different from the past three years -- we gave Total Confusion a miss. There were several reasons behind this:
1. There was little to no word about what was going on. They didn't send out registration pamphlets with event schedules and descriptions. What some people got in the mail (I didn't but one of my buddies did) was a postcard telling people to visit the website for information. Well, for those of us who didn't get the word, wrong move.
2. When I did check the schedules, I found only one event in which I held any interest. Problem with that was that it was held on Friday night at 1900. I get out of work at 1730, and even though it would be pretty much a straight shot down 495 from Littleton to Mansfield, it would be fighting Friday night rush hour traffic on 495. Not my idea of fun. So in that span of 90 minutes, I would have had to drive, find a place to park, get my registration, somehow find something quick to eat, and get to the table and be ready. Fat chance on that. Now, why didn't I ask for time off, you say? Well...
3. Since I haven't hit my 90-day mark just yet, I'm not allowed to utilize any floating holidays or borrow any vacation time from next year. (Employees at this company don't get vacation time until their second year.) Besides, I'm going to be using at least a couple of floats when the baby comes.

However, I will plan to attend next year, hopefully running two or three events so I can get in free. Not sure on game systems and scenarios as yet though...

Nothing more to report here.
Carry on.
