So... I go shopping for a DVD for Dad's Christmas present. Best Buy didn't have it, so I end up at Media Play in the Worcester Common Outlet mall downtown.
What a dump it's become.
Stores are closing left and right. There are probably as many empty spaces in there as there are stores. Hell, even half the food court's walked out of there.
The only store that's worth anything in there is Media Play, and even that one's gone downhill. Truth be told, I think there were more employees working there today than customers.

Now, I wouldn't kick if they decided to close out the mall and do what Mayor Tim Murray (Boy from my old 'hood) would like to do: tear down the mall and put a road in its place to connect the center of downtown to the Union Station/Shrewsbury Street area in a more direct path. Those stores have proven to become redundant, or at least unnecessary. We don't need a Media Play anymore. If I want a CD or a DVD, I'll go to Best Buy, or Borders, or even the new Circuit City that's opened in Millbury. Selection's better, and the prices probably are too.
The only saving grace of that mall is the Bijou local moviehouse. Granted, I was there only once, but it's having a really good go at it. I would hate to see it go.

I just remember when that mall opened up, and everything was new. Media Play was pretty much the only store in town to get CDs and movies at decent prices. Now, it's just fallen by the wayside and not worth the trip.
Though I was able to get the DVD... guess that counts for something.
