Just a few random bits and bobs about the day...

So yesterday, I had my car towed to Bancroft Motors to get it checked out. Turns out that Sally (short for Salamander, since it's a red car) needs a new starter. This sounds just a touch odd to me since she started up nicely twice before it went out. Oh well.
[livejournal.com profile] silvara77 was going to stop at Stop & Shop on the way home from work yesterday. I thought that I'd meet her up there for a lark. It meant walking, but I figured that it was a couple of miles, and that I'd have a halfway decent start on her before she left work. Well I started walking up there. I was like halfway there when I looked over into traffic and thought, "That license plate looks familiar..." Turns out it was her. I turned around and started jogging after her, hoping to catch her at a nearby traffic light. Missed her. So, I walked the rest of the way home. Hey, got my daily walk in.

Right now, for some reason, my thighs are achy. I was planning on having a walk today. Perhaps later on, after lunch.

[livejournal.com profile] silvara77 has a long day at work. Not only does she have the normal school hours today, she also has afterschool, plus an after-hours school-related activity (some sort of dinner), which means she won't be home until later tonight, probably like 800pm or so, which means she'll be beat. I already told her that she's just going to crash when she gets home. Forget schoolwork, just conk out. This also means that I'm on my own for dinner. Not sure what I'll make. Maybe I'll whip up another batch of egg salad to have around. Good stuff, that.

Still have my interview tomorrow. Plus, I've been finding one or two openings on Monster to which I've been applying every day.

Ah well... perhaps more this afternoon...
Okay, so I have my interview tomorrow morning, right? Supposedly lunch with Dad afterwards, too...

Well, I get this one call about a long-term to indefinite contract position in Lexington, doing over-the-phone PC support. (Not first-line Help Desk triage calls, mind you.) They're desperate for someone to start immediately. So now I'm arranging to have the interview for that in the afternoon tomorrow. If all goes well, I'll be employed on Friday, hitting the ground running.

Then I get a call from another headhunter about another position in Southbridge, with a possible interview on that. Since tomorrow's pretty much booked, I asked if it could be on Friday. (Note: if Friday is taken by the above-mentioned job, I'll cancel the whole shooting match.)

After that was over and done with, my mobile rings. It's yet another person looking for a PC tech for work. Yee Gods, people. The phones are like a switchboard at the 911 call center during the LA riots!

Anywho... wish me luck on any one or all of the above. I'm hoping for the Lexington one myself, since it's immediate need and the pay's good.

One of the contenders I saw at the recent Winter Olympics was an Eskimo who competed in the downhill slalom. The trouble was that he just kept getting in the way of the other skiiers. At first I couldn't believe my eyes, but then I realized he was just an obstacle Aleutian!

(A lot you know, [livejournal.com profile] lawful_evil!)
