As it has been a damned good while since I've done any sort of update here, I think I'll take this opportunity to do so...
Can't remember my last post of any substance, so I'll take it back to...
Ocean City
So on the morning of 12 July, we set out for Ocean City, MD. I had Colleen go to bed around... 1100pm I think... I was up until 100am getting my own kit together, ripping a few more CDs into iTunes, and the like. Alarm went off at 300am, and we got to packing the car... but we ended up not getting on the road until 530am. I think we ended up arriving in OC sometime early mid-afternoon.
Now this place was different than the complex we've stayed at the previous two years. This was a single bedroom -- where Marcus, C's mom and brother slept. C and I had the living room, sleeping on a rather comfortable (and tall) queen-size air mattress. We also had a great view of the beach.
This year, I managed to stay down at the beach longer that usual, even went boogie-boarding a few times. The best rides usually ended up with abrasions on the knees, but they were worth it... as well as a few wipe-outs. On one of them, I was wearing a dive mask, so I actually saw the ocean floor come towards me as I went arse-over-teakettle.
We also went to Rehoboth Beach DE three nights... well, two nights with the whole family, and one night with just me and C. Marcus ended up with lots of stuffies (as usual), and had fun with the rides.
And last but not least, a few of us went to the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight. Awesome.
And then this brings us to the following week.
C and M stayed down in VA during the following week, and I had to come back up here to work. The drive alone isn't too bad. I took over the living room with the air mattress. Dad and I saw Iron Man and The Dark Knight that week. Didn't get a whole hell of a lot done, really. Read a bit.
That Saturday, I drove back down to VA, as we had a wedding to go to on that Sunday. We drove back home Monday, and situation was back to normal.
Since then, it's been status quo -- Marcus and C hanging together, shopping trips, etc...
A week ago, we took Marcus to his first movie -- Wall-E. For the first hour, he was absolutely mesmerised -- sitting in his seat, kiddie snack tray on his lap... during the second half, he was a bit antsy, and walked around our area a little, but was very well-behaved.
And now, school is starting up for C again...
And we have Captain Jack now...
