Well last night was a switch... in discomfort location, that is. The sacro-iliac/sciatic pain that was in my left rump has now shifted to my right. Again, this is a literal pain in the arse.

This weekend should prove to be somewhat interesting... Colleen and I are planning on checking out the new Barnes & Noble that just opened up in the Lincoln Plaza that's about a couple of miles from our flat. That, and I want to start amassing materiel for the trip. Gonna need a couple of paperbacks for down there... I already have my book for the plane (Douglas Adams' biography)... also gotta make copies of CDs that I'll be taking, so if something happens, I won't lose the originals.

Plans may be in the works to attend NorEasCon this fall, as one of my favorite authors is one of the Guests of Honor -- namely Mr Terry Pratchett. It'll only cost me $35 to try to get my copy of Good Omens signed...

Easter is fast approaching, and that means making a little basket for Colleen. I've already started on the gift portion of the basket. All I need now is a stuffie to go with last year's Easter stuffie (Professor BunBun, who went on the trip to Kentucky with us... Colleen has pictures of BunBun at various rest stops, in various family pictures, etc... well-travelled, he is...)
Odd thing... on Easter Sunday, we'll be in Virginia with Colleen's family doing the Easter family thing... and it'll be our six-month anniversary... and the morning after, we're flying from BWI to Jamaica...
And the flight leaves BWI at like 0500am... told Colleen that at that rate, I'll be unconscious in the security line. I'm also not going to be thinking about champagne on the flight so early in the day. And her "Uncle" George already has a full Monday planned with lunch, pool bar, etc...

I've started going over some campaign material for another person's Fantasy Hero campaign... interesting stuff. I might borrow some of it, but I'll be using my own magic system, borrowing a little from GURPS perhaps...

That's all I can think of so early on in the morning... more later if/when I get the chance and something interesting comes up.

16 and a wakeup! And I get Good Friday off, too, so that's the day to pack! And go see The Machine!

You are welcome to borrow paperbacks from us. There are plenty downstairs in the entertainment center and 3 bookshelfs full in first room on your right at the top of the stairs.

Re: Sciatica, huh?

After a fashion... pretty much it's the "Oh let's see where it shifts to in the morning" bit. Last time I went to the doc (Fallon Urgent Care) about this, they decided not to give me any anti-inflamatories, but gave me a scrip for tylenol with codeine. Didn't really do much, but I did use one of those buckwheat heat pads (or whatever they fill them things with), and that helped a bit.

Heh, since ibuprofen is one of the best anti-inflammatories short of some fairly exotic stuff I would stick with that. Alex had sciatica for a bit. There are some exercise you can get from a PT. Mostly for stretching the hamstrings and the area that everything inserts into near the lumbar region.

Have you ever noticed a difference in the actions of the different brands of ibuprofen? Advil vs Motrin. I think I like Motrin better for some of the problems I have, especially in the dental area. (Sometimes it works better than vicodin.) I'll take Advil for a headache, but Motrin for damn near anything else. (This includes the generic varieties...)
